Dr. Reid's Papers

Dr. Reid was an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church in Canada but his career was substantially directed towards academic research and teaching. He taught history at McGill University in Montreal from 1941 to 1965 and latterly at the University of Guelph where he was the founding Chairman of the Department of History in 1965. Much of his published historical research focused on the reformation era and included a significant biography of John Knox entitled Trumpeter of God. Though formally retired Dr. Reid was actively engaged in both theological and historical writing and research up until the time of his death on December 28, 1996. His wife, Priscilla, who worked tirelessly as a collaborator in much of his research, and who genuinely contributed to her husband's success as an author, died a few months later on June 2, 1997.

We hope gradually to expand the scope of this web site to include a variety of materials related to Dr. Reid's pastoral and academic work. This space has been reserved to provide links to some of his shorter published materials.
